Mein Kampf: A poorly written book with horrible ideas

Image
Mein Kampf (My Struggle) is the only complete work written by Adolf Hitler. The book was written by Hitler when he was imprisoned after a failed coup and it showed Hitler's development of his racist and political ideology along with his future plans for Germany. The main thesis of Hitler was a theory that Jews were planning to take over the world. He also stated that the two evils of the world were Communism and Judaism. His ideas became increasingly antisemitic and militaristic throughout the book. The book is regarded as the "bible" by the Nazis. Originally the book did not sell well and it was not popular. However, when Hitler gained power, Mein Kampf was used everywhere and even given as wedding gifts.  There were many horrifying ideas that Hitler presented in Mein Kampf, with specific ideas such as terrorist methods to gain political power and general ideas such as antisemitism. With statements such as, “the sacred mission of the German people…to assemble and preserv...

Topgun: An American Story by Dan Pedersen - Alberto R

Image
Almost everyone is familiar with the U.S. Navy's Top Gun program, thanks to the movie of the same name released over 30 years ago. About a cool pilot flying cool planes, however, the author's personal story is connected with the program's establishment as a graduate school for naval aviators. Dan Pedersen, a young man in the 1950s, enlisted in the Navy, specializing in aviation engine maintenance. He later got the opportunity to attend the Naval Aviation Cadet program, leading to an officer's commission and the freedom to fly. His dedication to the Navy and flying took a toll on his personal life, causing him to lose the love of his life due to extended separations for training and deployments. The book follows a chronological format, following Pedersen's various phases and deployments. His first deployment was with squadron VF(AW)-3* based in San Diego California, where he would be flying the F-4D Skyray. After 5 years of flying the F-4D, he reported to VF-121 to r...

Violets Bent Backwards Over the Grass by: Lana Del Rey book review

Image
Violets Bent Backwards Over the Grass is a book full of unreleased songs and poetry written by the one and only, Lana Del Rey. In this collection of poetry she writes about her simple day to day interactions with people and just random things she wants to talk about. Although this doesn't seem like the most interesting book to read it does show a very enlightening perspective on where she gets her music inspiration from. There are various images in the book that show a little more about what the poems are about and what they mean to her, which I feel, adds a special touch and is what makes the poems unique. My favorite poem of hers happens to be one of the first poems in the book titled "Violets Bent Backwards over the grass."  My favorite line of this poem is "I decided to do nothing about everything forever" which is accompanied with an image of a dandelion in a patch of grass. Real.      When I found out she had written a book, I was very...

Her problems start when she shows up to a black-and-white ball wearing a bright red dress. Yet again, the King asks her to dance, but she's utterly repulsed. Suddenly, the lights shut off and a clever Joker begins to preform tricks for the crowd. Cath is delighted, until she hears a rumor that the King will propose to her, tonight. When the King gets up on stage, she panics and runs away, feeling light-headed. The last thing Cath remembers is fainting in the hands of the Joker.     When she wakes up, she meets the Joker, whose real name is Jest, and finds he's charmin...
